Eh, I don’t know if it’s just because I was watching TV while I read it, but i didn’t really feel very invested in this story。 I’ll still probably read the other books, just to find out what happened, but it wasn’t anything super thrilling to me。 😕

The Selection could 100% be a movie and it was very entertaining but you don't get a clear ending and have to read the sequel to figure out how the selection ends。 It was an enjoyable book but I have no desire to read the sequel。 My take on this book was like "The Hunger Games" combined with "The Bachelor" so if you can imagine that, and would enjoy that, this is the book and series is for you! Quick-ish read, definitely for a bit of a longer audience but not bad at all。 Team Maxon all the way!

El libro me pareció muy atrapante y entretenido, pero lo que no me gustó tanto es que el final está demasiado abierto, entiendo que hay precuelas pero quizá si estuviera un poco más cerrado hubiera quedado mejor

But Maxon is so sweet and understanding, and their friendship goes stronger especially now that she is part of the Elite! Only 6 girls left in the competition。 Will be reading the 2nd book tomorrow, super excited。 👍I noticed that this review is more focused on the romance of the story and not necessarily the details of the rivals, and the plot of the rebels break-in the palace so will hope to talk about that more in the next book, where the girls are more eager for the Prince/ Throne 👀 resulting to gossip or sabotage, and where the rebels are more angered and increasing their threat to the country! 。。。more

I promise I read this with the soul intent of wanting to know why everyone is reading this series right now。 I read it。 I was intrigued。 It was a bit slow, kinda boring, but I understand why some people would like it。

The book that got me into reading in the first place! Has some cringey scenes but it’s good。

I don't want to be mean because this was created for readers a few years younger than me, but to be honest, I found this book very hard to get through。 It just felt like something I have read countless times before。 The story was just a mix of a thousand before written postapocalyptic young adult novels, combined with the Bachelor and the Royals and the language felt like an Amateur had written it, mit a published author (although this could also be, because I read a translated, german version) I don't want to be mean because this was created for readers a few years younger than me, but to be honest, I found this book very hard to get through。 It just felt like something I have read countless times before。 The story was just a mix of a thousand before written postapocalyptic young adult novels, combined with the Bachelor and the Royals and the language felt like an Amateur had written it, mit a published author (although this could also be, because I read a translated, german version) 。 For me, it sounded pretty much like Fanfiction。 But still, if I look at it from the perspective if a twelve year old girl, I might have really liked the book。 The romance is interesting and even though America is in my opinion a very clichée character, I see a younger version of myself routing for her。 So, to come to a conclusion, thus is definetly no one star review, because I get, that I am not the audience this book is written for and because the plot is at least logical and for young readers maybe even new。 But due to the statements made above, I can not give "The Selection" more than 2 Stars。 。。。more

This is definitely a good book to read but I will say towards the middle of the book it’s starts to become more repetitive in my opinion but overall I enjoyed it and can’t wait to read the next book! :)

If you want brain candy, this series is for you。 I couldn't put it down and read the whole series in three days。 Did I feel good about myself afterwards? No。 But was I happy I read them anyway? Read this book in like 3 days it was so good!! America annoyed me mostly when she was with Aspen。 She has the “not like other girls vibes” , which is annoying。 I got so mad when Aspen was a guard!! I absolutely adore Maxon though :) He was so cute and sweet。

Cami
